Job Description:

Action Against Hunger is seeking a Nutrition Manager for SIDA VIII project title “Provision of lifesaving undernutrition treatment and prevention support to vulnerable communities affected by critical nutrition emergency in District Battagram, KP”. The project will support provincial health department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to respond effectively to malnutrition emergency at district Battagram. The project specific objective is “To improve community’s accessibility to life-saving care and prevention of acute undernutrition of pregnant and lactating mothers and children

OBJECTIVES

Objective 1

Effective implementation of program activities (CMAM/CMAMI ) program activities in district Battagram

Tasks & responsibilities

·         Define program implementation modalities (targeting criteria, mobilization modalities, local partnerships, monitoring systems, staff schedules, etc.)

·         Define overall CMAM implementation plan in collaboration with UC personnel to ensure the full package is planned.

·         Plan and deliver trainings with support capacity building team on CMAM, IYCF/CMAMI and IMNCI to external stakeholders (CBO, INGO and NGOs) as well as internally (other Government departments staff , nutrition staff)

·         Ensure sound monitoring of program activities.

·         Ensure that logistics and administrative arrangements aremade timely with the concerned departments in collaboration with Administration, responsible for Nutrition program.

·         Ensure provision of equipment, materials, supplies and drugs as necessary.

·         Assess the needs of identified locations with local authorities and health personnel (HR, material/training needs, etc.)

·         Ensure timely submission of all reports to internal and external stakeholders.

·         Ensure the implementation of activities defined by the technical head  in coordination with the  Program, Logistics and Administration departments

·         Develop plan of work for OTP, Outreach, NSC and IYCF/CMAMI activities according to the expected progress of the project

·         Evaluate and update program needs (HR, financing, logistics)

·         Liaise with concerned government authorities and ensure the Programme strategy, objectives and activities are understood and agreed and appropriate communication channel is in place

·         Provide advanced word processing support by creating complex spreadsheets, maintaining databases and creating high quality reports, presentations, and other documents

·         Involve in the preparation of Nutrition and Health SBCC Key messages in reference to the existing health and nutrition education materials

·         Organize monthly meetings with the team and report the outcome to the head of the Programme along with proposed action plan

·         Supervising treatment and progress of patients.

·         Ensuring Nutrition and Health Key education is disseminated to the target beneficiaries

·         Ensuring adherence to and respect of current protocols.

·         Analyzing nutrition situation and prevailing trends.

·         Compiling statistical data and draft appropriate reports on activities.

·         Document lessons learned and best practices at the program/District level

·         Supervise the daily and monthly reporting submitted by field the teams

·         Provide technical support to CMAMI/IYCF, ECD, OTP, SC team when required

Objective 2

Team Management (OTP, Outreach, NSC and CMAMI/IYCF).

Tasks & responsibilities

·         Oversee all staff for the nutrition project including regular performance evaluations, management, general well-being, job descriptions, work schedules, discipline, etc. in co-ordination with DOH and in accordance with ACF International and MOH HR policies and guidelines.

·         Provide technical support to staff, promote learning based on project objectives and activities, and ensure documentation and sharing of learning with other sectors and programs.

·         Ensure that staff responsibilities are clearly defined and understood with performance objectives set against work plans and regularly monitored.

·         Adhere to and ensure Security protocols followed by Nutrition teams both when in Office and field areas as per stunting project.

·         Organize regular evaluation meetings of team members.

·         Respond appropriately in case of conflict and breach of policies.

·         Conduct training need assessment will support of CB team and identify training needs, and supervise the technical training of national nutrition staff members and Coordinate with ACF international Org.

Objective 3

To develop technical reports, progress reports on the SIDA VIII project activities implemented.

Tasks & responsibilities

·         Prepare reports APRs, donor and any report required by Government counterparts in line with the ACF quality standards

·         Ensure management of accurate databases

·         Organize workshops and other events related to project activities.

·         Comply with all internal policies processes and procedures including financial management systems.

·         Undertake other duties reasonably required by the portfolio leader .

·         To support Information Management team in generation of data sets and its analysis with regards to SIDA VIII project.

·         Strong Support to IM and MEAL team in all programming assessments e.g.  Beneficiary selection, Baseline, Endline, and KAP assessments and relevant surveys.

·         Up to 70% visits to district field for ensuring quality program implementation.

Objective 4

Represent Action Against Hunger at Provincial level and act as a Provincial lead for all the coordination forums and working Groups at Battagram

Tasks & responsibilities

·         Represent Action Against Hunger at provincial-level and technical fora, working groups, workshops and strategic think tanks related to the department;

·         Sharing of regular coordination meetings, workshops update with project management team.

·         Any other task assigned by line supervisor.

Objective 5 (Gender)

To ensure inclusion across departmental work and within/by the team

Tasks & responsibilities

·          Support mission level qualification for gender marker;

·          Encourage inclusion within recruitment, training and promotion;

·          Ensure inclusion within departmental planning, implementation and reporting.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory

·         Master’s Degree in public health, Nutrition, Medical Nursing or in relevant field with the proven of 5 to 7 years’ experience in Public Health /Nutrition programming.

·         Ability to speak local Language is mandatory along with other languages Udru & English

·         Significant experience in managing and implementation of Nutrition projects in Pakistan & a plus if had worked in other developing countries.

·         Good written and verbal communication in English;

·         Ability to work in a complex situations with little supervision provided

·         Ability to work independently and with self-motivation

·         Computer literate, knowledge of MS Word and Excel required

·         Willingness to travel frequently

Preference

·         Previous experience working in Nutrition specific field.

·         Experience within a large national or international organization;
