Will be responsible for the overall sales performance of an area or team. Will be required to both perform sales duties himself and lead teams of salespeople to achieve sales goals. This will include everything from setting sales goals to training and supporting teams in order to help them achieve those goals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop Business Plans Should have the ability to develop overall business plan for the area, including sales strategies. This will include performing territory and sales analyses, assessing the results and adjusting sales strategies accordingly.
Perform Sales Visits Should be willing for extensive travelling. Will be required to visit potential and current distributors/retailers to provide product information, answer their queries and concerns, build brand awareness and cultivate business relationships.
Secure Sales Should have good negotiation skills to secure sales for the achievement of area sales target. This is to be done both directly and through team members.
Build Relationships Must have the ability to build and maintain key relationships with potential and current customers. Using his interpersonal skills, the Area Sales Manager is required to cultivate new relationships with potential clients and follow up with potential and current clients through phone, email and regular visits.
Manage Sales Team This will entail many different tasks, including training sales employees, holding regular meetings, reviewing team member expense reports, coaching, motivating and supporting the sales team, and ensuring that employees are achieving their sales goals.
